A Seattle, WA Weekend Adventure

Last weekend I went on a family vacation to Seattle. I absolutely LOVE Seattle! It is one of my favorite cities, and I always leave wanting more. This was Zoey’s first visit there, and she absolutely loved it too. We stayed at the Four Seasons hotel which is right in the heart of downtown Seattle. We tried to fit as much in as possible. We went to the Aquarium, Zoo, Space Needle, Children’s Museum, Pike’s Place Market (more than once), and so much more! Here are some pictures from the trip.

Here is Zoey looking around from the hotel room.

We saw a beautiful elephant at the Woodland Zoo.

Zoey can’t pick her own nose, but the lion statue can’t complain.

Are You Preparing for the Zombie Apocalypse?

Have you ever been walking home or to your car one night and had an eerie suspicion that someone is watching you. Your foot steps speed up and you find yourself looking over your shoulders and into the dark bushes across the street. Then it dawns on you, that you should probably be getting your keys ready so when you reach your porch or car door you can get to safety quickly. Just as in all important times, your purse seems to be a bottomless pit allowing no relief to your rising pulse. You finally grab your keys and reach to enter them into the key hoe, and then drop them. Even more frantically you scramble to the ground and retrieve the jangling metal alarm system, warning everything in your vicinity that there is fresh blood, ripe for the picking. You finally get your key in the hole and as you are turning it….. you realize that you are a complete idiot for ever thinking that you will be eaten to pieces by some once-dead, blood dripping zombie. You may not believe in zombie apocalypses, but it is a growing trend around the world. It’s not even just a zombie apocalypse that is urging people to buy knives, guns, and bulk foods, but every imaginable type of apocalypse you could think of: super volcanoes, economic crashes, polar shifts, a new ice age, and oh so much more. Bulk item prices are steadily rising for the growing paranoid. There are countless documentaries, books, and even a television show on National Geographic called Doomsday Preppers. Even the lovely Jennifer Lawrence (X-Men: First Class, The Hunger Games) admits to watching the show and says it’s her “guilty pleasure.” I personally am in love with

all the hype! As long as you’re not spending your life savings on preparations, then it is harmless fun. I record Doomsday Preppers and watch while doing laundry. Admittingly, I have even done a little preparation myself. Some knives here, storage food and water there, and of course gas masks and bug-out bags for me and my daughter. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have released reports on preparing for a zombie apocalypse. Of course, they did it to calm the hysteria and made it in a way to help in most survival situations. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe that my friends are going to try to eat me alive one day while at the movies, but it is better to prepare for a disaster then wait for one to happen and say, “Oh Sh*t” while helplessly watching the disaster unfold. So tell me, are any of you preparing for some sort of apocalypse?

What The Heck Were We Thinking!

I was going through some of my families old photos this morning and thought I would share them with you. My oh my, how the styles have and will continue to change! Looking through some of these, I want to tell my mom that she, in fact, did use cruel and unusual punishments with me. I remember growing up, the style was big, baggy shirts tied into a knot at the bottom side, with long leggings that strapped under the bottom of your feet, and to top it off, a huge side pony. We have countless home videos of my cousins teaming up and doing dance routines where we would do the running man, and walk in squares, while kids in the back would be jumping side-to-side in a rotating fashion. To be honest, I was the kid ion the video with absolute no coordination or dance skills, so I was mainly flailing off from here to there with people dancing around me ha ha. The joys of being young and care free! I hope you enjoy some of these pictures! What were some of the crazy or silly things you did growing up? What was your favorite outfit?

The Today Show – Gardening

Good morning world! Today I woke up feeling significantly better after spending all week recovering from getting my wisdom teeth surgically removed. I am very happy to say I no longer look like a chipmunk! This morning is especially wonderful for me because my Dad is in town from New York! There is nothing better than waking up to the smell of coffee and hearing the news. On The Today Show they were showing how to piece together a very simple raised garden. That got me excited for my own garden! It is getting very close to planting time, and I need to plan out what I want for my garden this year. Right now, I only have a few herbs but I am excited for juicy tomatoes, crunchy snap peas, and delicious peppers! I am very new to gardening, but happen to enjoy it very much! Last year was the first year I had my own garden. To all of you gardeners out there, what are you looking forward to this coming gardening season?

This seems like a huge mess! I’m glad I’m not running the lab tests!

Hello Lovely People of The World!

I figured I would let you know a little bit about myself. I am a single mother who believes that there is more to life then potty training and food stained clothes. I absolutely love learning new things! Anything! I spend my spare time reading, writing, watching the news, and trying to learn new crafts, like knitting, cooking, and even apocalypse survival skills ha ha. I wish my days would be three times as long so I could finish everything I want to do! I am very understanding and caring, and I would love to hear any and all opinions, thoughts, or questions from everyone!
